Legal Aid Council of Nigeria, a parastatal under the Federal Ministry of Justice, was established pursuant to the promulgation of Legal Aid Act No. 56 of 1976,
Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 1990.
The headquarters of the Legal Aid Council is in Abuja and it is under the administration of a Director General.
Legal Aid Council of Nigeria has offices in each state of the Federation, besides establishing supervisory offices in eight geo-political zones of Abuja, Jos, Yola, Kaduna, Lagos, Ibadan, Owerri and Enugu.
